Police arrest three robbery suspects, recover stolen vehicles in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered two vehicles allegedly stolen by the gang.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, announced the arrests in a statement released to journalists on Monday.

According to Ikenga, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu apprehended the suspects on May 30 at Agukwu-Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, following a tip-off from another robbery suspect already in custody.

Police identified the suspects as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu—all males aged between 27 and 32.

During the operation, officers recovered a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number KWC 140, an ash-coloured Lexus 350 with registration number 669 CY, two exotic phones, and a pump-action gun.

Ikenga confirmed that the police have intensified efforts to track down other members of the robbery gang still on the run.

“We have expanded our investigations and are working tirelessly to apprehend the remaining suspects. We urge the public to provide credible information that can help us fight crime in the state,” he stated.

This development, according to the spokesperson, underscores the Command’s proactive strategy in tackling criminal activities across Anambra State. (NAN)
